Fergie, Josh Duhamel Wanted More Kids Before Split, Source Says
Josh Duhamel and Fergie initially wanted to grow their family prior to their split.
Duhamel and Fergie's split shocked their fans. The couple has been married for eight years, but they have decided to call it quits a couple of days ago.
A source told E! News that the couple may not have agreed well with having more kids. "Around a year ago when Fergie was contemplating what was next for her musically, Fergie and Josh were trying to have another baby," the insider explained. "At the time, it was made clear that having another baby was a priority for Fergie over anything else regarding her music so she was trying to scale work back. Eventually, she was a lot more present in the studio to work on her solo music."
The insider implied that Fergie had been busy with her new album. The singer's newest solo album "Double Duchess" is already finished.
Days before Fergie and Duhamel announced their split, the former was asked about baby No. 2. The "Big Girl's Don't Cry" singer opened up about her music instead of a real baby with her then-husband.
"I've heard so many rumors about all of that," Fergie told Us Weekly about the reports that she and Duhamel are looking into adoption to grow their family. "I have no idea what's in the future. Right now, I just turned all my videos in yesterday to everybody. It's like I'm birthing a different kind of baby. I feel like I'm birthing this thing out. It didn't come from my belly but it came from my soul."
Fergie and Duhamel share a 4-year-old son, Axl. The then-couple tied the knot in a private ceremony in Malibu, California in January 2009. Earlier this year, the "Safe Haven" actor greeted Fergie on Instagram to celebrate their eighth wedding anniversary. The photo featured the family and the trio looked happy. "8 years!! Love you babe," Duhamel wrote in the caption.
Fergie and Duhamel announced their split on Thursday. "With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year," the pair said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight. "To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family."
