Jason’s hopes of reuniting with Sam are quickly dwindling, and it’s clear that he is ready to give up on getting the love of his life back. However, on the Thursday, Dec. 28 episode of “General Hospital,” it looks like Sonny isn’t going to let his friend walk away from the woman he loves.

Although Sam (Kelly Monaco) has constantly denied her feelings for Jason (Steve Burton), the former mob enforcer has been honest about how much he still cares about his estranged wife. However, Jason can only take the rejection for so long, and it seems like he is looking for a way out of the pain.

In the promo for the upcoming episode, Jason seems to be ready to leave Port Charles, but a conversation with Sonny (Maurice Benard) may delay his departure. In the video, Sonny tells Jason that he believes his desire to go out of town is about wanting to get away from Sam.

Sonny is well aware that things have been a bit off since Jason has returned. Earlier in the week, Sonny spoke to Drew (Billy Miller), as an attempt to assure him that they are still friends. However, Drew noted that he only has Jason’s memories and can’t mimic’s Jason’s every move and behavior, such as putting Sonny before his own family.

As a result, the two came to an understanding that there isn’t any chance that they could remain friends. Realizing that Drew could never be the man Jason is may be the driving force behind Sonny encouraging Jason to stay in town.

Meanwhile, Sam has been very vocal about her decision to stay in a relationship with Drew since finding out that he isn’t the real Jason Morgan, but she has been struggling with ignoring her feelings for Jason since he has returned to town.

In the preview of the upcoming episode, Carly (Laura Wright) is seen congratulating Sam on something.

While it is unclear what she and Sam are talking about, it’s no secret that Carly wants Sam and Jason back together and new spoilers suggest that she is back to her old tricks. Could she be attempting to play matchmaker with Jason and Sam?
