'Glee' Star Lea Michele Tweets A Tribute To Cory Monteith On His Birthday
Lea Michele posted a short message for Cory Monteith on Twitter Monday. The “Scream Queens” actress made the tweet in honor of the late actor’s birthday.
Michele, 28, dated Monteith, her “Glee” co-star, for nearly two years. They were together until his death in July 2013. The New York native kept the somber post upbeat.
Monteith and Michele met on the set of “Glee” in 2009, where they played fan-favorite couple Finn and Rachel for several seasons. The Canadian actor would have turned 33 this year. He died of a heroin overdose in Vancouver in July 2013 after going through a rehabilitation program earlier that year.
Michele, who is now dating model Matthew Paetz, isn’t the only “Glee” star to talk about Monteith’s passing recently. Kevin McHale, who played Artie, talked about the loss of Monteith when asked about his opinions on the show, which ended in March, jumping the shark during its final seasons. McHale said the actor’s death was something the show just could not get through.
“I will say, not to bring it down or anything, when Cory Monteith died, I don't think the show ever came back from that,” he told “The HuffPost Show" earlier this month. “And it wasn't for a lack of trying, but the story was going in one direction with his character, and he was one of two main characters of the show.”
