Is Hallmark’s New ‘Crossword Mysteries: Abracadaver’ Movie On Tonight? Air Date Details

After the second movie in Lacey Chabert and Brennan Elliott’s Hallmark Movies & Mysteries series, “Crossword Mysteries,” premiered last week, fans have been looking forward to checking out the third installment in the franchise, “Abracadaver.” Originally, it was set to air tonight (Oct. 20), but it’s since been delayed.

On Thursday, HM&M announced on Twitter that the network was making a surprise change to its schedule and would begin airing Christmas content 24/7, starting Friday at 7 p.m. EDT, instead of on Oct. 25, as originally planned. As “Crossword Mysteries: Abracadaver” is not a holiday flick, Hallmark’s chosen to no longer premiere it Sunday night.

A new, exact air date has not yet been set for the mystery movie, but the stars of the film did reveal to Hallmarkies that it will debut at some point in January 2020.

“Hi friends! ‘Crossword Mysteries: Abracadaver’ will now air in January instead of Sunday,” Chabert wrote on her Instagram on Friday. “Miracles of Christmas starting today on @hallmarkmovie is an early Christmas present for the millions of fans who love the holiday season. We are very proud of ‘Abracadaver’ and excited to share it with you in the new year!”

Her co-star, Elliott, shared the postponement news on his own Instagram, writing, “Just wanted to let you know that #crossmysteriesabracaver will air in January 2020 instead of this Sunday. With Christmas season launching on @hallmarkchannel @hallmarkmovie, our favorite time of year, it made sense to move it to Jan. Good things come to those who wait.”

While this might not be the best news for all the fans who were looking forward to seeing Tess Harper (Chabert) and Logan O’Connor (Elliott) solve another case tonight, it does mean that they now have something to look forward to at the start of the new year, while having plenty of old and new Hallmark Christmas movies to hold them over until then.

“A well-known magician drops dead in the middle of a dangerous trick on stage in front of a packed audience, but when the sudden death turns out to be murder, New York Sentinel Crosswords editor (and part-timer sleuth) Tess Harper (Chabert) and NYPD detective Logan O’Connor (Elliott) team up to discover exactly whose sleight of hand is behind the deadly ‘now you see him, now you don’t’ stunt. Together, they must uncover the not-so-obvious clues and work their investigative magic to bring a killer to justice,” according to the synopsis.

Catch “Crossword Mysteries: Abracadaver” on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries when it premieres on its new air date in January 2020.
