‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 2 Finale Spoilers: Episode 13 Synopsis, Video And Photos

“The Handmaid’s Tale” Season 2 is coming to an end. The Hulu drama’s second season finale will be released Wednesday, and it looks like an intense episode.

Titled “The Word,” the episode will show Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski) make an effort to change life for women in Gilead. Though she helped fight for this religious regime, it’s been made clear this season that she misses parts of her old life. The synopsis doesn’t clarify exactly what she wants to do, but she’ll have help. “Serena and the other Wives strive to make change,” the logline teases.

Her efforts might not go over well with the Commander (Joseph Fiennes). In the promo video, Serena says she did something to “set an example for our daughter.” Fred doesn’t look proud, though. Later in the trailer, the Commander holds a Bible and looks down as his wife is taken away by a couple of Guardians. What will the Commander let them do to his wife?

Elsewhere, Emily’s (Alexis Bledel) new household will continue to be an odd experience. Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) reminds her to be appreciative that a family took her in, but Emily isn’t feeling grateful. She is seen tucking a knife into her dress in the trailer.

Another scene shows her new Commander (guest star Bradley Whitford) asking, “What are we going to do with you?” and seemingly hustling her down a staircase.

The synopsis doesn’t reveal much. “Emily learns more about her new Commander,” it states. Viewers will figure out his true intentions by the end of the “Handmaid’s Tale” finale.

Then, of course, there’s Offred (Elisabeth Moss). Our favorite handmaid will be doing plenty in episode 13, but pretty much everything is a spoiler. “Offred faces a difficult decision,” the synopsis simply says.

The promo video, however, gives away one big moment. Offred slaps Commander Waterford across the face in the finale.

Keep in mind that Eden’s (Sydney Sweeney) death won’t be forgotten. The Waterford household will still be reeling after the execution of Nick’s (Max Minghella) teen bride.

“The Handmaid’s Tale” Season 2, episode 13, the finale, will be released Wednesday at 12 a.m. EDT on Hulu. The streaming platform has already renewed the series for Season 3.
