Heidi Klum's Ex Vito Schnabel Arrested For Drug Possession Weeks Before Split
Heidi Klum's ex-boyfriend Vito Schnabel was arrested before the supermodel confirmed that they had called it quits.
Schnabel, 31, was arrested for drug possession on Sept. 3 at the Burning Man Festival in Nevada, a source confirmed to Us Weekly. He was allegedly in possession of psilocybin, a Schedule I controlled substance, also known as psychedelic mushrooms. The art curator pleaded not guilty to the charges. However, he could face up to five years in prison if he is convicted.
This revelation comes after Klum told People that she and Schnabel had split earlier this week. "I believe that it is important to take time to pause and reflect," said the "America's Got Talent" judge.
Klum and Schnabel dated for three years prior to their breakup. However, a source confirmed that "there has been trouble in paradise for a little while." The ex-couple's relationship was reportedly heading south weeks before they parted ways.
However, this was not always the case. Back in 2015, Klum confessed to Entertainment Tonight that she was "very much in love" with Schnabel. The supermodel was noticeably sporting a band on her left hand which she clarified was not an engagement ring.
"This is just a beautiful bauble from Lorraine Schwartz," Klum said of her stunning gold sparkler. "I won't get married again. People always write all these crazy things, but it's not all true. Don't always believe what you read in the paper!"
Klum was previously married to Ric Pipino (1997-2002) and Seal (2005 - 2015). Klum and Seal share three children: Henry, 12, Johan, 10, and Lou, 7. Klum is also a mom to Leni, 13, whom she shares with her ex, Flavio Briatore.
Klum and Briatore dated in 2003. In December of that year, she announced her pregnancy, but the pair split shortly afterward. Klum started dating Seal, who was there when she delivered Leni.
Briatore told Daily Mail that he, Klum and Seal agreed that the latter would adopt his daughter because the baby needed to grow up with a family. Briatore admitted that it was "hard" to miss his daughter when he "never sees" her.
"It's hard to miss a baby that you never see. But I know that Leni is not an abandoned child. Leni is part of Seal's family and Nathan is part of mine," Briatore said.
