DNAInfo reports that Tuesday night Robert Hammond announced that the project's third phase might more ahead sooner than expected. That section would extend from the present end of the line at 30th street towards the river, along the Westside Highway, and north along the planned Hudson Yards project.

Hammond co-founded the Friends of the Highline organization that got the elevated park off the ground in the first place.

The impetus is that the Related Cos. is moving ahead with its Hudson Yards project, which the new section would border on two sides-and which, at least in principle, Related will help maintain, Hammond told the audience at a public meeting about the Highline project, the news site reported.
