How Did Leslie Carter Die? Drug Overdose Expected in Death of Nick, Aaron Carter's Sister
The world is asking how Leslie Carter, the beautiful sister of Nick and Aaron Carter, died Tuesday.
Leslie Carter was battling a prescription drug addiction in her final days, sources tell TMZ, and her family members tell the celebrity news site that she likely died of a drug overdose.
The Chautauqua County, N.Y., coroner's office performed an autopsy Tuesday and found no visible signs of trauma, coroner Richard Mackowiak told E! News: We are awaiting a toxicology report to determine a cause of death.
Leslie Carter, star of the reality TV show House of Carters, was only 25 when she died tragically today, and sources say she had been working hard to kick her drug habit by staying with family in upstate New York, according to TMZ.
She moved in with her family--whose house sources told the site they had to remove all prescription meds from before she came in order to help her in her battle with addiction--from her previous home in Canada.
Our family is grieving right now and it's a private matter. We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter, the Carter family said in a statement sent to Access Hollywood Tuesday evening. We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time.
Sources told the site that the family thought Leslie Carter was on her way to recovery, and that she would be fine while they left her alone Tuesday for about an hour, but she appears to have overdosed in the meantime.
By the time the family had returned from the errands they were running, Leslie Carter was too far gone and was declared dead shortly thereafter, TMZ reported.
According to Newsday, the body has been released to the family.
Leslie Carter is known best for her role in the Carter family's reality TV show and as the leader of the music group The Other Half. She also recorded a song for the Shrek movie soundtrack.
