‘HTGAWM,’ ‘Scandal’ Crossover In The Works Before Kerry Washington-Starrer Ends
ABC’s “How to Get Away With Murder” and “Scandal” will have a crossover episode before the Kerry Washington-starrer wraps up in May.
Washington and Viola Davis confirmed the crossover by posting cryptic photos on their respective Instagram accounts. Washington, who plays the role of Olivia Pope in “Scandal,” posed inside the courtroom featured in “How to Get Away With Murder.”
Davis also posted a picture of herself inside the White House as seen in “Scandal.” The award-winning actress plays the role of Annalise Keating in “How to Get Away With Murder.”
The upcoming crossover will be the first for the two shows, and its timing is perfect because “Scandal” is expected to wrap up after seven seasons. Details about the upcoming episode are still being kept under wraps, but “HTGAWM” executive producer Pete Nowalk shared a copy of the script on Twitter.
In the script, Olivia and Annalise will meet for the first time inside a room. The “Scandal” crossover installment was written by Raamla Mohamed directed by “Scandal” star Tony Goldwyn. The “HTGAWM” crossover episode, on the other hand, was written by Morenike Balogun and Sarah L. Thompson and directed by Zetna Fuentes, according to Variety.
Meanwhile, “Scandal” and “HTGAWM,” which is executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, have not crossed over with “Grey’s Anatomy.” The medical drama is currently on its 14th season, and it seems that the Ellen Pompeo-starrer will not have a chance to team up with Washington and the rest of the “Scandal” cast.
Luckily for the series, “Grey’s Anatomy” is expected to feature a crossover with an upcoming firefighter drama on ABC. The untitled series will star Jason George, who plays the role of Dr. Ben Warren in the series. Ben has decided to pursue a career as a firefighter and will join the Seattle-based team in the premiere.
New episodes for “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal” and “How to Get Away With Murder” will be released on Jan. 18 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
