‘iZombie’ Season 3 Spoilers: EP Teases Liv’s New Love Interest
Executive producer Rob Thomas confirmed that Liv (Rose McIver) is getting a new love interest in Season 3 of “iZombie.” But unlike Liv’s former lovers, this new mystery man won’t be killed off as a means of wrapping up a story arc.
“We will simply not kill off another boyfriend,” Thomas told TVLine. “I’m not going to say that they live happily ever after, but we’re not going to use his death as a means of ending that [relationship].”
In Season 1, Liv had a romantic relationship with musician and fellow zombie Lowell (Bradley James). He, however, was killed by Blaine (David Anders) midway in the season when Lowell and Liv teamed up in an attempt to take Blaine’s life.

Then in Season 2, Liv fell for Drake (Greg Finley). Unlike Lowell, Drake was a human when she first him. But Liv was forced to turn him into a zombie to save his life after he got shot. Towards the end of the season, Liv found out that Drake was actually an undercover cop trying to get enough dirt on Mr. Boss (Eddie Jemison) to take him out. Unfortunately for Liv, she ended up killing Drake herself in the finale after he had gone full Romero at Max Rager’s secret laboratory.
Details about Liv’s new love interest are being kept under wraps, but Thomas implied that Liv’s Season 3 lover is also a zombie. “[In Season 3,] there are many more zombies for her to choose from,” Thomas told TVLine. “She meets an entire army of zombie dudes. So suddenly, there are more fish in the sea.”
News that Liv’s next love interest won’t be killed off was first revealed during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July. “I was pretty happy to hear that,” McIver said shortly after the announcement was made.
“iZombie” Season 3, episode 1, titled “Heaven Just Got a Little Smoother,” airs on Tuesday, April 4 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
