‘iZombie’ Star Rose McIver Reveals That One Brain She Refused To Have Liv Eat In Season 3
“iZombie” actress Rose McIver is not a cat person.
While speaking at the show’s panel at Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, McIver admitted (via USA Today) that she’s “genuinely terrified” knowing that there are brains out there that she “might not have a clue as to how to perform.” So when the writers gave her the opportunity to cross out one of the potential brains her character, Liv, might eat in Season 3, the 28-year-old actress made sure that she vetoed the right one.
“They were like, ‘We’ve got a list of 35 brains and you’re allowed to veto one,’” McIver recalled, according to Nerdist. “[The brains included in the list are] just everything you could imagine, terrifying, all sorts of adventurous, scary things. [But] cat lady is what I vetoed.”
“I’m a dog person,” she explained. “They thought it would be a great prank to play on me to pretend there was this brain I had to eat where I was interacting with like seven cats. [But] that was the one where I was like, ‘Absolutely not.’”
While Liv won’t be taking on the traits of a cat person in Season 3, the character will still eat a lot of interesting brains in the upcoming installment. According to the synopsis for Season 3, Liv will eat the brains and take on the characteristics of a dominatrix, a JACKASS-style stunt man, an office gossip, a pre-school teacher, a conspiracy theorist and a dungeon master, among many others.
Although it’s definitely difficult for McIver to play different set of personalities week after week, she said that she enjoys the transformations. “[I loved] the hot-mess brain [and the] dominatrix brain was pretty fun,” said the actress, whose favorite brain ever was the “Dungeons and Dragons brain.”
The 13-episode Season 3 of “iZombie” will debut with a two-hour premiere on Tuesday, April 4 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW before moving to its regular time slot at 9 p.m. EST, following new episodes of “The Flash.”
