Jack Gilinsky Breaks Silence Over Madison Beer Verbal Abuse, Twitter Reacts After Candid Apology

Jack Gilinsky has apologized for verbally abusing his ex-girlfriend Madison Beer in an audio clip that was leaked Saturday. Shortly after he posted his detailed apology, “#WeLoveYouGilinsky” started trending on Twitter as fans came together in support of the musician.
In the leaked audio, Gilinsky’s is heard hurling profanities at his then girlfriend Beer. Amongst other things, Gilinsky is heard calling Beer a “f------ s---" and boasting about having endless options when it comes to picking up girlfriends.
“Guess what, who can get any girl they f------ want?” Gilinsky says in the audio. The recording quickly went viral, prompting heavy criticism of the behavior displayed by the musician toward his former girlfriend.
After the backlash, Gilinsky issued an extended apology, clarifying the audio was not a recent one and was recorded a year ago. He also added that there was no excuse for his behavior, and that he had immense respect for Beer who helped him through a really dark time in his life.

Beer has not directly opened up about the incident. The last thing she posted on her Twitter page was two days before the audio surfaced.

Meanwhile, Gilinsky’s candid apology had his fans showing overwhelming support to him on Twitter, making #WeLoveYouGilinsky the topmost trend on social media. While some of his die-hard fans refused to believe that the verbal abuse audio was anything but rumors, according to others, Gilinsky deserved a second chance since the audio was old and the musician regretted what he had said.
I'm sorry @jackgilinsky ❤🌹 Lots of love from me to you #weloveyougilinsky

People change and grow, you're not the same person you were last year so don't expect Gilinsky to be #WeLoveYouGilinsky

However, there were users who couldn't figure out why the hash tag was trending, as hours before the musician issued an apology, a very different hash tag seemed to be catching everyone’s attention on Twitter - #jackgilinskyisoverparty

Under this hash tag, a Twitter user pointed out that Gilinsky could not be trusted even with fans because in addition to verbally abusing his girlfriend, he had also physically abused his best friend Jack Johnson.
The present hash tag was also denounced by African-American women who claimed that the only reason people chose to forgive Gilinsky was because he was white, good-looking and famous.
Others pointed out the hypocrisy of the people who were making the hash tag trend on Twitter. According to them, if the audio wasn’t leaked, Gilinsky would not have issued the apology.

There were also those who blamed the fact that women are too scared to speak out against verbal abuse they face in relationships because of the knowledge that people will end up supporting the man, despite the level of wrongdoing.
#WeLoveYouGilinsky welcome to 2017 where we support abusers and tell them everything is okay instead of the one who really needs to hear it

hashtags like #weloveyougilinsky are reasons why women don't reveal they've been in abusive relationships/situations

Meanwhile, supporters of Beer spoke up against the fact that people on social media are supporting Gilinsky while they should be raising their voice in support of his ex-girlfriend instead.
