Hoda Kotb revealed a new thing she learned about her co-host Jenna Bush Hager on the latest episode of "Today with Hoda and Jenna."

During Wednesday's episode, Kotb revealed she was "surprised" to learn Bush Hager "never wears underwear."

"I was a little surprised because Jenna and I know a lot about each other," Kotb told the studio audience on the NBC daytime show, People reported.

She explained that she discovered Bush Hager's love for going commando right before the show that morning when they had to change in the dressing area.

"I just had a little shock with it," Kotb said, recalling of when she "noticed."

Bush Hager quickly defended her decision, saying that "it makes a more pretty silhouette!"

"I also think you don't have to pack as much. There's a lot of pros to it!" she added, before scolding Kotb for exposing her in front of the live studio audience.

"You promised me you wouldn't do this! There's a lot of people here!" the former first daughter joked. "I'm sure my mom has never been more proud."

Kotb then appeared to show her support for her co-host's choice by sharing some of the benefits of not wearing underwear. She quoted their show's wardrobe supervisor, who said, "It actually does make life a lot easier."

Going commando has several benefits, according to some experts. It makes one feel more comfortable, relieves dampness, reduces rashes, prevents yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis and reduces chafing, Bustle reported.

"By going commando you give the labia and vagina time away from fabric," Dr. Kameelah Phillips, a New York City-based OB/GYN, told Bustle.

This is referred to as letting the area "breathe."

"The concept of 'breathing' just speaks to the fact the vagina can be a sensitive area for some [people] and increased contact with moisture and clothing can increase this sensitivity," the doctor said.

She noted that not everyone has to let this area breathe, but for some, it feels right.

Dr. Felice Gersh, an OB/GYN and founder of the Integrative Medical Group of Irvine, told the outlet that finding the right combination of clothing is a factor when one decides to skip wearing underwear

"Not wearing underwear while wearing a loose, long dress may help [keep you dry]," Gersh explained. "Simply skipping underwear, but wearing fitted pants, would serve no purpose."

On Wednesday's episode, Kotb pointed out that there was a downside to ditching underwear, saying, "It's a lot of washing of clothes, over and over."

But Bush Hager wasn't bothered by it.

"[Hoda] said, 'Do you wash your clothes' and I said, 'Yes, I do.' But it's also not like I'm sharing your jeans with you. Though I do steal Savannah [Guthrie] 's pants on occasion," she explained, before asking Kotb, "And I do want to borrow that red suit of yours. Can I?"

"Yes, you can, anytime," Kotb said.

"I'll wear underwear," Bush Hager joked.

"Today with Hoda and Jenna" began filming again in front of a live audience Monday. They temporarily returned to Studio 6A in New York City where they previously filmed the show.
