Jinger Duggar is speaking out after her brother Josh Duggar was arrested on child pornography charges this week.
The "Counting On" star and her husband Jeremy Vuolo released a joint statement via their respective Instagram accounts Friday saying they were "disturbed" after learning about the charges that were brought against her eldest brother.
"We are disturbed to hear of the charges against Josh," the couple wrote. "While this case must go through the legal system, we want to make it clear that we absolutely condemn any form of child abuse and fully support the authorities and judicial process in their pursuit of justice."
Josh was arrested by federal agents in Arkansas on Thursday. He was charged with one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography during a Friday hearing at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas via Zoom. He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
"Josh Duggar has been charged in a two-count indictment. He has pled not guilty to both charges and we intend to defend this case aggressively and thoroughly. In this country, no one can stop prosecutors from charging a crime. But when you're accused, you can fight back in the courtroom — and that is exactly what Josh intends to do," his attorneys, Justin Gelfand, Travis W. Story and Greg Payne, said in a statement obtained by People.
Along with her brother, Jinger starred on TLC's "19 Kids and Counting" before the network canceled the show in 2015 following Josh's molestation scandal. He was accused of molesting five underage girls as a teenager, including sisters Jessa Seewald and Jill Dillard. Both said that they have moved on from the incident.
TLC, which still airs the "19 Kids and Counting" spinoff "Counting On," also released a statement following Josh's arrest.
"TLC is saddened to learn about the continued troubles involving Josh Duggar," the network said. "19 Kids and Counting has not aired since 2015. TLC canceled the show on the heels of prior allegations against Josh Duggar and he has not appeared on-air since then."
Meanwhile, Jinger revisited the scandal in an interview with Us Weekly in April, admitting that it had been one of the hardest times their family had ever gone through. However, she noted that it also brought them closer together.
"Our family was way closer because of that, and in spite of that, I guess you’d say," Jinger explained. "I will never forget how I felt in that moment. And I think even everything that happens in our lives — because we’re in the public eye — it makes it more challenging because then it’s not just dealing with these things inwardly, but you have to give an answer to the world. That makes it a much tougher thing to walk through."
