“Teen Mom 2” star Kailyn Lowry was surprised Chris Lopez, the father of her third child, showed up to the hospital when their baby was born Aug. 5. The two broke up shortly after the child was conceived. Lowry did not immediately announce the name of her child, saying she couldn’t find a name that suits him.

She would like Lopez to be involved. “Every child deserves their dad,” Lowry, 25, told Radar Online in an exclusive interview Monday. “I’m hopeful. I’m positive he’ll be around.”

Lowry is arguably the only “Teen Mom 2” star whose children have active fathers. Ex-boyfriend Jo Rivera uprooted his life to move to Delaware to be with 7-year-old son Isaac. Javi Marroquin regularly spends time with 3-year-old Lincoln, and still has Isaac sleep over his house so the brothers can spend time together.

While Lowry had doubts about what type of father Lopez will be, he started out on a positive note. He escorted her home when she left the hospital last week like she “always hoped” he would

“But just based on how our relationship has been there was always a question whether he would have his phone on him or would he be at work,” she said. “I’m so glad that he came.”

It seems unlikely that Lopez will be around the way Marroquin and Rivera are for their sons. Still, Lowry seemingly defended Lopez.

“I think he has been as supportive as he can,” she said. “He does the best to his ability even though it doesn’t necessarily meet the standards of what everyone else expects of him. I think people need to keep that in mind.”

Lowry blogged about Lopez being a potentially uninvolved father in April. “I think I’m most worried about the changes ahead, but also that I will have this baby 24/7 by myself with no help,” the mother-of-three said. “I’m going to be a single parent from the beginning!”

More than a week after her unnamed baby was born, Lowry tweeted about living with three boys. “Reality set in- a house full of boys means my house will probably forever have toilet seats left up & smell like wet towels,” she wrote Monday.

Still, the MTV reality star isn’t upset she didn’t welcome a girl. “…I wasn’t disappointed at all,” she told Radar Online in a previous interview. “Boys are all I know so I think it worked out for the better. I always said I couldn’t picture myself with anything other than boys so I think it worked out.”

Lowry has until Sept. 5 to name her third son. “We don’t have a name at all and we don’t have any ideas either,” she told the publication Thursday. “I feel like everything we thought we liked doesn’t fit him.”
