Kanye West has conceded in the 2020 presidential election, but he is not giving up his dream to become the next U.S. president as he looks forward to the 2024 election.
Many interpreted one of West's latest tweets as an admission of defeat against Donald Trump and Joe Biden. However, West will be trying his luck for the presidency again after the next four years.
"KANYE 2024," he wrote on Twitter.
West's announcement received mixed responses from his fans, critics and followers. Many are supportive of West's plans while others are not. One even asked West to just give up because he will never be the head of state.
"Kanye I love you man, but you’re never gonna become president so please stop," one commented.
"Crazy how I went from admiring and loving Kanye to HATING him. Screw him for stealing crucial votes from someone that could have been a WAY better president than Trump," another wrote deeming the rapper’s presidential run a distraction for those who should have voted for Joe Biden.
"People with mental health issues shouldn’t run for any office, as well demonstrated by Donald Trump. This includes you as well as much as you dislike it," Samuel Carvalho, founder of Global Mental Health Org, wrote.
Despite the backlash, many also believe in West's potential to run the country. Some of his supporters said they will vote for him again.
"AND I'LL DO IT AGAIN," one wrote while sharing a snap of her ballot with West's name under the write-in candidate.
"@kanyewest I believe in YOU. So happy to see you already announcing another run!! I will vote for you AGAIN 2024," another fan commented.
A different user also defended West saying he is not just a musician because he is a "true self-made billionaire." The netizen added that Kim Kardashian's husband has empathy for those wronged by the current health system. The Twitter user also said West has been honest about himself the entire time.
As of Wednesday evening, West has received 60,000 votes across 12 states and 10,188 of those votes are from Tennessee.
