Kate Middleton reportedly took Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's exit “badly.”
Prince Harry was very close to his older brother Prince William and sister-in-law Middleton before he started dating and eventually married Markle. According to reports, Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ sons had a falling-out when Prince William advised his younger sibling to slow down with his romance with Markle while the two were still dating.
Their relationship has reportedly never recovered. Prince William and Prince Harry eventually split their household. In January, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex renounced their royal titles. An insider told Vanity Fair that Middleton took Prince Harry and Markle’s exit “badly.”
“Possibly she was tired but she didn’t look overjoyed. To be honest I think Kate has taken it all badly,” an insider told royal correspondent Katie Nicholl of Vanity Fair. “She Harry and William were once such a happy trio, she thinks what has happened is all very sad.”
Prince William and Middleton were accused of snubbing Prince Harry and Markle because they barely acknowledged the pair. Prince Harry and Prince William didn’t interact the way the latter did to Prince Edward, they just briefly smiled.
Meanwhile, Middleton and Markle exchanged no more than a glance, a striking contrast to how they interacted last year. The Duchess of Cambridge was caught on camera embracing Markle who was heavily pregnant at the time.
Body language expert Bianca Cobb observed how the fab four behaved during their reunion at the Commonwealth service. According to her, Prince Harry looked “a little uneasy” while his wife Markle was “more relaxed.” She also noted that their interaction with the Cambridges was different from their interaction with the other people at the event.
“When you compare Harry and Meghan’s interaction with William and Kate to their interactions with the other people around them, it gives you a sense of, why would it be different and I think a natural conclusion would be, something is up,” Cobb explained.
“Kate had zero acknowledgement when taking her seat near Harry and Meghan.”
However, according to royal correspondent Rebecca English, there was tension because the Queen dropped Prince Harry and Markle from the main VIP party and told them to make their own way to their seats and wait alongside the Earl and Countess of Wessex. Prince William and Markle were supposed to join the Queen but decided to defuse the tension by joining Prince Harry and Markle who were very upset. They chose to skip the main royal party and wait on their seats, too.
