Katharine McPhee Breaks Silence On David Foster Dating Rumors: ‘It’s So Amusing!’

Katharine McPhee recently made it clear that she no intentions to confirm or deny the status of her relationship with David Foster.

The “Scorpion” actress recently told People that she won’t be providing fans with clues. “It’s great that they want to do that. I think it’s so amusing that people are amused by my love life,” she said.

But McPhee knows for a fact that she doesn’t owe anyone an explanation for her choices. “Here’s how I look at it: I’m not doing anything wrong, so whether people think it’s true or false, I don’t, you know, there’s nothing bad happening in my life, so people can just say whatever they want,” she said.

Rumors about McPhee and Foster dating first swirled after the music producer’s daughter, Erin, called the “American Idol” alum her stepmom on social media. She and Foster’s other daughter, Sarah, also said that they are happy that their dad has been hanging out with McPhee.

“We love Katharine McPhee. We love our dad. We want our dad to be happy. We don’t care who he dates… don’t really care how old they are. We don’t know if it’s her,” they told E! News.

But a source later on told People that Erin’s “stepmom” caption about McPhee was just a joke. “That is not at all true. Erin’s quite obviously tongue-in-cheek and sarcastic Instagram comments were pointed at those who can’t seem to grasp that her dad and Kat can be colleagues, collaborators and longtime friends without it being some big romance,” the source said.

McPhee and Foster first met on the set of “American Idol” in 2006 while she was still a contestant on the show. Since then, they have collaborated on several shows and projects. While speaking with Entertainment Tonight in September, McPhee also spoke highly of Foster, thus heightening rumors that they are together.

“He’s an incredible friend and I just pinch myself when I get to spend time with him on a personal level. I love his outlook on life and how he treats people. He’s a really special person in my life,” she said.
