Katy Perry Doesn’t Want To Talk About Ex-Husband Russell Brand: 'My Songs Will Say What I Need To Say'

Katy Perry may have moved on from her divorce from Russell Brand, but people are still wondering whether the two are talking. Now the singer says the last time she spoke with her ex was when Brand sent her a text message about the divorce.

The “Firework” singer told Daily Telegraph on Saturday, "He hasn't spoken to me since he texted me saying he was filing for divorce. I don't want to talk about him; my songs will say what I need to say."

Perry and Brand went through a public divorce while her documentary “Part of Me” was being filmed. That particular scene showed Perry sobbing on the camera, crushed with disappointment. She seemed broken yet she was able gather her composure and walk on stage in Rio, where tens of thousands of fans were waiting to see her perform.

Today, the singer is a much better place. The Grammy award nominee even kept the cat she and Brand got together whom they named Rusty – a combination of their names. "But I’ve changed her name to Monkey," said Perry.

Even though her divorce has been a source of pain for the singer, it became the source of inspiration for her “Prism” album, states Us Weekly. The experience hasn’t closed her off to love either, saying how she’s still excited by whatever it brings. “I’m excited by my own evolution. I don’t want to end up bittersweet. I have to evolve, I have to continue to push people’s perceptions of me. As an artist I like to do that, keep people on the edge of their seats."

But that evolution doesn’t include making babies anytime soon, says E!News. Perry said when she becomes a mother, she wants to be "dedicated to that" and not worry about music. Besides, her personal and professional life is still a work in progress.

Since Perry’s divorce from Brand, the talented singer has been linked to both John Mayer and Diplo.
