Keanu Reeves To Appear In 'Fast And Furious 9'?
After being a part of highly-successful franchises such as “John Wick” and “The Matrix,” Keanu Reeves might join yet another action-heavy movie series.
According to Screenrant, the writer of “Hobbs And Shaw,” Chris Morgan, revealed that there have been talks with Reeves about appearing in the upcoming movies of the “Fast And Furious” franchise. The director also admitted that it is his dream to bring the “Destination Wedding” star into the action series.
Morgan told the publication that he sat down with Reeves a couple of times and discussed a lot about being a part of the movie. He wanted Reeves to join the Fast universe for a very long time, but tight schedules and Reeves’ soaring popularity made it a little hard.
“We are just trying to find out. The hardest thing is always time and competing schedules and then designing things together. My fervent desire is to bring him into this franchise for sure,” Morgan said.
There were a lot of rumors buzzing before the filming of “Hobbs And Shaw” that the “Neon Demon” star would play a villain in the movie starring Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, and Idris Elba in pivotal roles. But director David Leitch, who worked with Reeves in “John Wick,” revealed that things never materialized.
While talking to Hollywood Reporter in August, Leitch noted that these rumors swirled because of his close relationship with the “Knock, Knock” star. He admitted that it is something that he “entertained” in his mind. The “Atomic Blonde” helmer concluded by saying that he would definitely approach Reeves if something amazing comes out.
“Looking forward in the future, it would be awesome if he would want to play in this world, for sure,” Leitch said.
As of late, Reeves is busy in shooting for the next installment in the “Matrix” series. Both Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will return to the series alongside Lana Wachowski, who will be directing the film.
The first movie, which released two decades ago in 1999, and its two sequels – “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions” – accumulated a whopping $1.6 billion worldwide. Reeves and Anne-Moss played the roles of Neo and Trinity in all the three movies of the series.
The actor will next be seen in “Bill and Ted Face The Music” alongside Alex Winter. It is the third film in the “Bill and Ted” franchise. Reeves and Winter will reprise their roles as the title characters, and the film is currently slated for release on Aug. 21, 2020.
