Man Kills Toddler Daughters Following Argument With Wife Over His Unemployment
A man killed his two toddler daughters following an argument with his wife. The incident took place in the southern Indian state of Karnataka on Friday.
According to local reports, the mother of the girls returned home from work Friday night and found the toddlers, three-year-old Taushini and 18-month-old Shastha, lying motionless on the bed. The woman started screaming for help.
Recalling the incident, a neighbor, who was no identified in the reports, said, "She initially thought they were unconscious. Soon she started screaming and pleading for help and we rushed to find out what was wrong. Someone called the police control room.” The officers found the children dead.
The father of the children, who had locked himself in another room, was detained for questioning. The accused, identified as 35-year-old Jatin Kumar, confessed to smothering his daughters with a pillow.
Investigation revealed that the man was jobless and killed his daughters following a fight with his wife earlier in the day.
Confirming the same, a police officer said, "He had changed many jobs in the past few years and had stopped looking for one. He was depressed ove0r being jobless and would often shout at his wife and kids, saying they were not respecting him. On Friday, he fought with his wife over the phone for the same reason. He took the kids inside and killed them.”
The man was taken into custody following the confession.
