Mariah Carey’s sister Alison alleged that their mother sexually abused her when she was just 10 years of age.
According to a lawsuit filed at the Supreme Court of New York, Alison alleged that her mother Patricia forced her to perform numerous sexual acts on strangers at the age of 10, reports Page Six.
The lawsuit also claimed that Alison’s mother “forced” her to watch adults engage in “sexual acts” during “satanic worship meetings.” In addition, their mother allegedly forced her to watch child sex orgies.
The court documents also suggested that Alison was unable to balance her life after the entire ordeal and was diagnosed with “post-traumatic stress disorder, major depression, and anxiety.” Alison also claimed that the reason for her deteriorating mental health was all the abuse that she endured during her childhood.
Citing the documents, the media outlet reported that PTSD and depression forced her to start taking drugs, both legal and illegal. She started doing drugs to overpower her “horrific memories.” The “We Belong Together” singer’s older sister also underwent “extensive professional counseling” to make her feel better.
As per the lawsuit, Alison is now seeking “compensatory money damages” for all the “mental pain” she went through.
“Plaintiff now demands compensatory money damages for immense psychological and physical damage, mental pain and anguish and intentional infliction of severe emotional distress,” a part of the documents was quoted by Page Six.
This is not the first time that news about Alison’s troubled past surfaced online. In 2005, Mariah’s sister was arrested for prostitution twice within a 10-week span. The “Obsessed” hitmaker paid for her sister’s rehab at the time.
In 2018, while speaking in an interview with The Guardian, Mariah revealed that Alison’s actions turned her into a “very guarded person.” However, she claimed that she does not feel guilty about the decisions that her sister made in her life.
“[Alison’s troubles] turned me into a very guarded person, and a very prudish person on a lot of levels,” she said, adding that she doesn’t feel guilty for how differently her own life turned out from her sister’s.
“I don’t think it’s for me to feel guilty about the decisions that other people made with their lives. I do as much, privately, as anybody would do for people who have not been very considerate of me, to put it mildly,” Carey told the media outlet.
