Meet The ‘Dancing With The Stars’ 2019 Cast: Contestant Refresher Before Season 28 Premiere
After nearly a year of waiting for the return of tv’s hottest (and most controversial) dance competition, fans of “Dancing With the Stars” will finally see the show grace their TV screens once again in just one short week. Now, with Season 28, they’ll see a completely new show as 12 celebrities hit the floor in the hopes of snagging both bragging rights and a Mirrorball trophy.
After taking a year off from ABC following Season 27, which ended on a controversial note for some fans, the show will be back with both familiar faces and new ones, and fans will once again see a wide variety of celebrities dance it out to get the big prize. Considering the surprises that greeted fans at every turn in 2018, nothing seems out of the realm of possibility now either.
So who are the 12 celebrities—and 14 pros who are signed on to take the Mirrorball this time around? Get reacquainted with the celebs and the people who will be teaching them to dance (though the exact partnerships won’t be revealed until premiere night) below.
Pros:
Brandon Armstrong, Lindsay Arnold, Alan Bersten, Cheryl Burke, Witney Carson, Val Chmerkovskiy, Sasha Farber, Jenna Johnson, Keo Motsepe, Peta Murgatroyd, Gleb Savchenko and Emma Slater are all returning to the show in some capacity this season. They will be joined by new pros, Daniella Karagach and Pasha Pashkov.
Celebrities:
Lauren Alaina
This 24-year-old country singer first came on the scene after being crowned as the runner-up on Season 10 of “American Idol.” She has had two songs hit the top of the country music charts, including “Road Less “Traveled,” and the song “What Ifs,” which was a duet with her former classmate, Kane Brown.
Christie Brinkley
The 65-year-old supermodel is finally making her way to the “Dancing with the Stars” stage, and fans could potentially see her three children, Sailor Lee Brinkley-Cook, Alexa Ray Joel and Jack Paris Brinkley Cook cheering her on in the audience.
Ally Brooke
Ally Brooke is following in the footsteps of her former Fifth Harmony bandmate Normani Kordei by participating on the show.
Hannah Brown
The 24-year-old former Beauty Queen stole America’s hearts as the most recent star of “The Bachelorette,” and is looking to next steal some votes with impressive dance moves on the floor.
Karamo Brown
The 38-year-old is best known now as the culture expert on the Netflix series “Queer Eye,” but he has also competed on reality television before, appearing on “The Real World: Philadelphia.”
Kate Flannery
Flannery, 55, will likely have some fun on the dance floor if she has as much fun as her former “The Office” character Meredith did.
Ray Lewis
The 44-year-old football star is looking to bring his impressive footwork from the field to the dance floor.
Kel Mitchell
The actor and comedian, 41, could get a lot of nostalgia votes from fans who remember him fondly from his days on “All That,” and “Kenan and Kel.” If he really is partnered with Witney, as has been rumored, perhaps they’ll treat fans to some good-natured fun by welcoming them to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger?
Lamar Odom
The basketball star, 39, may be looking to prove he’s still got what it takes after years of less than favorable headlines following a near-death experience and a highly-publicized split from Khloe Kardashian.
Sean Spicer
Spicer, 47, is sure to be a surprise throughout the competition since his casting has been considered divisive.
James Van Der Beek
The 42-year-old “Dawson’s Creek” star will see life imitating art as he competes on the show, as a heightened version of himself that he played on “Don’t Trust The B In Apartment 23” also competed on the show.
Mary Wilson
The Supremes singer is out to prove age is just a number as she takes on the competition.
“Dancing With the Stars” Season 28 premieres Monday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
