Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Relying On Hollywood Pals After Royal Family, Correspondent Claims

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have allegedly gone from relying on the royal family to relying on their Hollywood friends.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex used to be full-time working royals. When they were still under the firm, all of their needs were provided by the royal family.

In January, Prince Harry and Markle made a bombshell announcement when they decided to step back from their royal duties. In April, the royal couple officially became non-working royals.

According to royal correspondent Daniela Elser of News.com.au, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “have gone from relying on the royal family to relying on their Hollywood pals.”

Elser noted that there are two things that senior members of the royal family do. First, they do their job which includes shaking hands, unveiling plaques, and delivering speeches. Second, they enjoy a large sum of money.

Elser added that royals don’t need to fret about money because they are provided with a huge allowance. When Prince Harry and Markle decided to step down, they turned their backs from those privileges, but they get to enjoy more freedom. However, Elser still questioned this, because according to her, the couple is still not independent.

“In a way, Harry and Meghan have exchanged being dependent on the British royal family to being dependent on Hollywood’s (and Wall Street and Silicon Valley’s) royal family,” Elser wrote. “In the past three months, the only thing that has changed about their financial bondage is who controls the purse strings.”

Meanwhile, Katie Nicholl said that Markle and Kate Middleton received the same support from the royal family when they joined the firm. The two were reportedly on an equal footing because they didn’t know the mechanisms of the royal family and protocols. Everything has to be learned. However, the Duchess of Sussex struggled to adjust.

Nicholl also added that Prince Harry and Markle were unhappy, but they still projected a happy image. Their true emotions were evident in the ITV documentary during their tour to South Africa.

“It became very apparent from that documentary in Africa, that perhaps while she made it look easy, it obviously wasn't easy,” Nicholl said about Markle.
