Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Were ‘Irritated’ By Royal Family’s Protection Over Kate Middleton

When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced their plans to leave the royal family, the couple insisted they wanted to become financially independent and obtain some privacy. However, a source revealed that Kate Middleton may have been one of the reasons for their exit.

Following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s 2018 royal wedding, the British tabloids began to crucify the former “Suits” star’s every move, which took an emotional toll on the couple. Less than a year after the birth of their son Archie, the new parents moved to Canada, and then permanently relocated to Los Angeles.

On Monday, an insider close to Meghan told the Daily Mail that the former actress and Prince Harry chose to distance themselves from the royal family because of the favoritism placed on Kate.

The friend claimed that what “irritated Meghan and Harry the most” was if media outlets would have “constantly criticized and needlessly bashed Kate the way they did her, changes within the royal’s media policy would have been made. No questions asked.”

The insider added, “[Meghan said] no one would have put up with it, and the broken and outdated system would have been revised. Those outlets responsible for their vicious attacks would have been shut out.”

The source claimed Prince Harry tried to get Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth to step in, but they refused to step in and change protocol. “[Meghan] said it was infuriating that Harry’s very real and valid concerns fell on deaf ears,” the insider explained.

“Meghan said they made it seem like this is the way it is, deal with it. Harry had been dealing with it far too long. She said he wasn’t going to let this destroy her life and their marriage.”

The source revealed Harry felt he had no choice but to distance himself from his family. “Meghan said when she was living in England, she was being bullied by the media non-stop, and Harry knew he had to do something dramatic to protect her and the family,” the friend shared.

“She said she was being treated unfairly and picked on for everything she did, including rubbing her belly too much when she was pregnant.”

The source insisted Prince Harry chose to leave the UK with Meghan and Archie out of fear that history would repeat itself. “This was about protecting the family and doing right by Princess Diana,” the tipster stated.

“She said the British tabloids have haunted Harry since childhood and should have been kicked out of the media pool long ago. The system is broken, and Harry wanted to fix it. She said he needed to take a stand, and now they are doing it together.”

Since their relocation to Los Angeles, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been volunteering with Project Angel Food to deliver meals to those in need amid the coronavirus pandemic.
