Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will not enforce strict rules when it comes to their new Labrador.

Harriet Mallinson, a journalist for Express, said that Markle used to allow her dogs to sleep on her bed. But it is unclear if her new puppy will be given the same perks inside her and Prince Harry’s home.

Mallinson noted that Prince Harry never owned a dog before, but he grew up seeing Queen Elizabeth II’s corgis at the Buckingham Palace. A source also revealed that Markle used to only give her two rescue dogs, Guy and Bogart, the highest quality organic food.

And when they were still puppies, the doting dog owner even bought Union flag jumpers to keep her dogs warm during the winter. Unfortunately, Markle was only able to bring Guy to London. She left Bogart with one of her friends in Toronto because the former “Suits” star knew that the old dog could no longer travel.

During their engagement interview with BBC, Markle said, “One [dog] is now staying with very close friends and my other, little Guy, he’s in the UK, he’s been here for a while.”

In related news, Adam Helliker, a columnist for Express, claimed that Prince Harry wanted to give his wife a second dog as one of his wedding gifts.

“Harry intends to find her a second canine companion, not least because he’s always wanted one himself,” he wrote.

Penny Junor, a royal biographer, also said that Prince Harry has always loved dogs, but he never got one because he has been too peripatetic.

“I don’t know why he didn’t have one when he was a child, maybe because there were too many in the house already. His father had Jack Russells and William had a Labrador, which he gave to the Van Cutsems when he went to university,” Junor said.
