Meghan Markle Shortlisted As James Bond’s Love Interest In ‘Bond 25’
Meghan Markle would’ve starred in a “James Bond” movie if she didn’t give up acting for her fiancé, Prince Harry.
According to The Sun, the 36-year-old actress was shortlisted after she caught the eye of the producers and casting directors while starring in “Suits.” The people behind the “007” films reportedly wanted someone glamorous for the next installment.
“Meghan fits the role of a Bond girl perfectly. She’s glamorous and sexy and she’s a good actress. The role more recently has gone to actresses deemed to be rising stars, and Meghan certainly was seen as that before her relationship with Harry became public. The brief was to find a glamorous rising star, specifically someone American or Canadian,” the source said.
Ilfenesh Hadera, 32, was also shortlisted by the producers, and she and Markle would’ve competed as James Bond’s (Daniel Craig) love interest in “Bond 25.” The film is slated to hit theaters in 2019.
However, Markle’s relationship with Prince Harry automatically removed her as a candidate for the role. The actress, who got engaged to the prince on Nov. 27, is expected to walk down the aisle on May 19, 2018. She also had to give up her Rachel Zane role in “Suits” to be able to start a life with Prince Harry in London.
Meanwhile, acting isn’t the only thing that Markle had to give up as a future royal. The “Horrible Bosses” actress also had to close down her lifestyle blog, The Tig. Markle used to be very active on social media, particularly Instagram, but she has not updated her account ever since her relationship with Prince Harry became public.
During her and Prince Harry’s first sit-down interview with BBC, he revealed that they had a conversation about some of the biggest changes in Markle’s life. Prince Harry told Markle that as a royal, there’s a lot of things that needs to be done and let go of, and the actress was more than willing to take on the challenge.
