Meghan Markle Should Learn ‘Discretion’ From Kate Middleton After Baby Shower ‘Mistake’

Meghan Markle should learn about “discretion” from Kate Middleton.

The Duchess of Sussex celebrated her baby shower in New York with her close friends a few weeks ago. However, it didn’t sit well with many as it was too extravagant for a member of the Firm. The event was deemed to be more “celebrity” than ”royal.”

Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell shared his thoughts about the issue. According to him, he supports Markle in what she does. Burrell also recognized the fact that things are not easy for the former “Suits” star, but she’s a breath of fresh air for the royal family. He added that her attributes are relevant to the present time.

Burrell has no problem with Markle’s baby shower because Middleton had one when she was expecting Prince George. However, there’s something off with it.

“The problem was that the event didn’t know whether it was a public event or a private event,” Burrell said.

“You know how careful the Royals are to keep everything under wraps and keep things private that are private,” he added.

When the Duchess of Cambridge had her baby shower, it was so private that Burrell didn’t know about it. On the other hand, Markle’s “played out on the world’s stage.”

“There’s a matter of discretion as the key and of course they have to work that out,” Burrell added.

Markle’s lavish baby shower was also criticized due to its cost. The palace said that it was privately funded by the duchess’ friends Amal Clooney and Serena Williams. However, this didn’t improve the situation.

According to royal expert Angela Levin, Markle’s baby shower was an “exhibition of extravagance at a time of national hardship.” She added that it was a slap in the face to those who are in the poverty line.

During Markle’s celebration, Kensington Palace shared that the poorest families struggle to feed their children and it backfired to them due to Markle’s lavish celebration.

Meanwhile, Omid Scobie and Chris Ship do not think that Markle has to be criticized for the said event. According to them, Prince William and Middleton also incurred huge expenses for their security when they publicly debuted their newborn babies at the Lindo Wing and during their family trips.
