Melania Trump has become a favorite subject of disparagements and condemnations since Donald Trump assumed office in 2017. The First Lady of the United States is, usually, lambasted over her fashion choices, advocacies and even some minor grammatical faux pas on social media. Recently, the mother of Barron Trump received threats from Iranian Instagram users following the death of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander general Qasem Soleimani just days into 2020.
Melania posted about her controversial “Be Best” campaign on the social media site recently. The photo contained the three pillars of the initiative, namely: online safety, well-being and opioid abuse. “After my trip to Africa, a member of our advance team raised money on her own time to get a new classroom built for the Chipala Primary School in Lilongwe, Malawi,” the FLOTUS wrote in the caption. “Thank you Carolina, for showing what it means to #BeBest!” she went on.
While numerous supporters of Melania Trump flooded the comment section with jeers and appreciations for the campaign’s accomplishments, a number of Iranian Instagram users noticeably wrote threatening remarks there. "We will take vengeance. We are all Qassem Soleimani," one netizen wrote. “Prepare your coffins...Revenge is coming," another user commented alongside Iranian flags.
There were also some who took the opportunity to lambast President Donald Trump. “trump is afraid and its so clear on his last post. he's a soldier that ran away from the war and after this he will afraid of his own shadow,” Helma Sajedi stated. “Severe revenge will com. For many years the US government has taken action against this nation(Iran) which we say last time. This is the last time America is attacking us, and we will take a hard revenge on you,” a fourth netizen said.
“We, the Iraqi people, do not want to leave our land, because Iran will kill,” another netizen warned. “America is a criminal and a terrorist. We are destroying the White House,” a sixth user commented.
Aside from Melania Trump, the Instagram pages of President Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump were also filled with violent comments mostly written in Persian language with Iranian flags. None of the members of the first family has commented on these online attacks as of this writing.
On Wednesday, the POTUS said “all is well” after Iran fired more than a dozen rockets at two Iraqi military bases hosting American troops. “All is well! Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now,” he wrote on Twitter. “So far, so good! We have the most powerful and well-equipped military anywhere in the world, by far! I will be making a statement tomorrow morning,” President Donald Trump continued.
