Michelle Obama once praised Harvey Weinstein even calling him a “wonderful human being” and a good friend, but Donald Trump was never a fan of the producer.
Actor, comedian and commentator Terrence K. William shared a clip of the former first lady praising Weinstein on Twitter. In the clip, the ex-FLOTUS thanks the American producer for organizing an event and described him as a “wonderful human being” and a “good friend.” Williams asked if Michelle and the former president Barack Obama would visit Weinstein in prison after he was convicted.
On the other hand, Trump was never a fan of Weinstein. During his state visit to India, the president was asked about Weinstein’s conviction and the POTUS said it was a “great victory” for women.
“I was never a fan of Harvey Weinstein. I think he said he was going to work hard to defeat me in the election. How did that work out, by the way? He was a person I didn’t like,” Trump told reporters at a press conference in India, Deadline reported.
“I knew him a little bit but not very well. I knew him because he was in New York. Not a person I liked. I will say the people that liked him were the Democrats. Michelle Obama loved him. Loved him. Hillary Clinton loved him. And he gave tremendous money to the Democrats and my question is, will the Democrats be asking for that money back?”
Melania Trump’s husband said that he didn’t know the specifics of Weinsteins’ case, but for the POTUS, his conviction from the standpoint of women was a “great thing.” Trump said that Weinstein’s conviction sent a very strong message and it was a “great victory.”
Meanwhile, Weinstein’s lawyer said that they would appeal. Arthur Aidala, Weinstein’s legal counsel, revealed that the Oscar-winning producer kept on saying he was innocent after the verdict was read.
He added that they are working on bringing Weinstein to Rikers’ Islands North infirmary unit at the Anna M Kross Center complex or in protective custody, so he could get the best medical supervision and care.
