‘The Mick’ Star Sofia Black-D’Elia On Filming Her Makeout Scenes With Andy Favreau In Episode 3, ‘The Buffer’
Sofia Black-D’Elia’s makeout scenes with Andy Favreau in last night’s episode 3 of “The Mick” weren’t her first kissing scenes as an actress, but she admitted that filming those intimate scenes between her character Sabrina and Favreau’s Kai was one the most bizarre things she’s ever done as a thespian.
“Making out that much in front of kids is really weird,” Black-D’Elia, who filmed most of her kissing scenes with Favreau in front of her younger costars, told Entertainment Weekly. “I remember turning around and seeing the look on Jack Stanton’s face, who plays Ben, and thinking, this is one of the weirdest f—ing things I’ve ever done as an actor.”
Although the 25-year-old actress acknowledged the possibility that her kissing scenes with Favreau might have been too much for her 8-year-old costar, Black-D'Elia joked that she “definitely felt” that those moments are “not going to be the thing that corrupts” Stanton on the show.
Speaking of Stanton, his character, Ben, is going to be front and center in next episode of the FOX series. According to the synopsis for episode 4, titled “The Balloon,” Sabrina, Mickey (Kaitlin Olson), Chip (Thomas Barbusca), Alba (Carla Jimenez) and Jimmy (Scott MacArthur) are forced to put their selfish tendencies aside for one day and throw Ben the celebration he deserves when Mickey discovers that they’ve all forgotten the seventh birthday of the youngest Pemberton.
“I take Ben, the little one, to the doctor, and I find out at the doctor's office that we have missed his birthday,” Olson told Maxim of what the viewers can expect from the episode, which has a special airing this weekend. “So we attempt to throw him a birthday party, and terrible things happen. It really goes awry and completely turns upside down. I can’t say what happens, but it involves blood and drugs and stuff like that.”
“The Balloon” airs on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 9 p.m. EST on FOX.
