Minnesota Teacher Had Sex With Teen Multiple Times At School, Inappropriately Touched Another Student

A teacher in Minnesota was charged for having sex with a teen and inappropriately touching another student.

The accused, identified as 31-year-old Daniel Sinclair Fragodt, worked as a math teacher and a coach at Albany schools. The criminal complaint filed in Stearns County Courts stated that investigation began in March when a 14-year-old girl told police that the accused “touched her inappropriately over the clothing several times.” During the investigation, the girl revealed that the man “rubbed her thighs with his feet and brushed against her buttocks with his hand.” The girl also revealed that the teacher was in a relationship with another 18-year-old.

The 18-year-old girl was interviewed during which she denied having any sexual contact with the teacher. However, Investigation revealed that the two were “extensive contact” since September 2017. Phone records showed that the two spoke to each other over call for several hours and also texted extensively. When the girl was interviewed again, she said the two got physical the first time when she was 17 years old and then went to have sexual intercourse “five to 10 times.” She added that there was “sexual contact at the school, the St. Joseph park and ride, and other places in Albany.”

The man was taken into custody and charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct Monday (April 13). He could face 15 years in prison if convicted. He remained in Stearns County Jail. Meanwhile, Greg Johnson, Superintendent at Albany Area Schools, told local daily St. Cloud Times that a complaint was received against the accused on March 25 and that he was placed on administrative leave the following day. The accused "has not had any contact with the school district since that time," Johnson said.

The incident comes days after a former teacher in Michigan was sentenced to one-year imprisonment for sexually assaulting a teen student. Denny Dean and the 17-year-old student exchanged numbers in November 2016 and had sexual intercourse for the first time the following month. The two went on to have almost 15 times over the next six months until she graduated from school.
