Model Who Married Herself Is Getting Divorced Because She Has Found Someone Special

A Brazilian lingerie model who earlier made headlines for marrying herself has created an a buzz once again after announcing her divorce barely three months into her sologamy.

Cris Galera decided to marry herself after she grew tired of relying on men for happiness, she said during her wedding in September. It has only been around 90 days since then, but she's already divorcing herself because she has fallen in love with someone else, reported Naija News.

"I was happy while it lasted," the 33-year-old lingerie model said about her married life, according to GHBase.

She also disclosed the reason behind the divorce, saying, "I started to believe in love the moment I met someone else special."

However, she did not reveal the identity of her significant other.

Galera got married in a solo ceremony outside a Catholic church in Sao Paulo in September, proclaiming her self-love. She reportedly decided to marry herself after facing several issues from previous relationships.

On her Instagram account, which has more than 183,000 followers, she claimed that countless men offered to marry her but her priority would always be herself.

"I reached a point where I matured, I realized that I am a strong and determined woman," she explained at that time. "I was always afraid of being alone, but I realized that I needed to learn to feel good about myself. When that happened, I decided to celebrate it."

She also said that though she would still be open to relationships after the wedding, she would never get divorced.

Many critics called her wedding an attention-seeking stunt, but Galera was sure of what she wanted.

"The offenses and criticisms do not reach me! When you're happy, nothing shakes you, nothing affects you!" Galera said on her wedding day as per the New York Post.

Sologamy or self-marriage is believed to have existed in the United States since 1993 when a woman named Linda Barker married herself. While it holds no legal status in the country, there has been a rise in the number of Americans marrying themselves in the spirit of not needing a partner to find happiness.
