‘Outlander’ EP Plays Coy About Jamie And Claire’s Season 3 Reunion Episode
“Outlander” ended last season with Claire promising to return to Jamie, but it isn’t clear how long it will take her to figure out how to travel back through the stones in Season 3. Executive producer Ronald D. Moore wasn’t very forthcoming in a Twitter Q&A with fans.
When a “Outlander” viewers asked if he could reveal when Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will finally see each other again, Moore confirmed that he knows exactly when it will be on screen. Yet he apparently wasn’t in the mood to give away such a spoiler about the Starz drama.
Jamie and Claire have been separated for twenty years. Claire assumed he died in the Battle of Culloden, but once she discovered her second husband survived, she decided she had to go back in time. Though it isn’t clear when exactly their reunion will be seen, the couple will definitely rekindle their romance quickly. Moore confirmed that there would be love scenes in Season 3.
Moore couldn’t clearly answer some questions because some decisions have not been made yet. He revealed that the drama is still sorting out what they’ll be doing about the scenes set on ships and in Jamaica. They have time to figure it out, though. The executive producer said those scenes won’t be filmed until 2017.
One firm answer he gave was about the length of the premiere. Although the Season 2 finale was extended to 90 minutes, the Season 3 premiere will not be supersized. Moore noted that it was simply “not in the cards.”
He has previously explained that he doesn’t want to expand an episode just for kicks. “Not every story demands or even benefits by it,” Moore explained to the Hollywood Reporter in July. “Longer is not always better. Sometimes, it’s just long. … Having the flexibility to do a super-sized episode once in a while is nice, but we don’t try to go there unnecessarily.”
Starz hasn’t announced when “Outlander” Season 3 will premiere.
