Prince Charles Urged To Cancel Proposed Trip To Cuba For This Reason
Prince Charles is being encouraged not to push through with his proposed trip to Cuba with Camilla Parker Bowles.
Florida Senator Rick Scott sent a letter to the Prince of Wales urging him to cancel his plans to visit the Caribbean. He said that visiting the island that has been at odds with the United States would signal the monarch’s support for a “ruthless dictatorship.”
On his Twitter account, Scott uploaded a scanned copy of his letter. “This evening, I wrote a letter to Prince Charles regarding a trip he is planning to Cuba. As heir to the throne, your visit to Cuba will send a clear message… For the sake of standing up for democracy, I hope that you will reconsider your trip,” he captioned the post.
According to NBC, Prince Charles and Camilla’s visit to Cuba has not yet been confirmed by the palace. However, rumors swirled after the Duchess of Cornwall reportedly shared the news during her recent royal engagement in Brixton. Supreme Court President Lady Hale released a statement last week.
In the statement (via Express), Hale said that the royal couple will not only go to the Anglo Caribbean, but also head to Cuba.
If the royal couple will indeed go to Cuba, their trip would be a historic one because it will be the first time for British royals to visit the island.
In related news, Prince Charles and Camilla also made headlines today after a royal commentator said that there is no doubt the future king will make Camilla queen consort when he takes over the throne.
While speaking with Express, he said, “When Charles becomes King, he is widely expected to make Camilla Queen Consort, as every King always had one. This is not popular in the polls but is now thought pretty certain to happen although the official line was and still is that she will become Princess Consort.”
However, it seems that Prince Charles won’t be king anytime soon because Queen Elizabeth II seems to have no intention of abdicating.
