  • Doron Weber tweeted that Prince Harry never heard the word therapy or coaching while in the royal family
  • The Duke of Sussex previously said Prince William was the one who encouraged him to get into therapy

Prince Harry spoke about how therapy changed his life and made him realize that he had the power to choose how to live his life.

The Duke of Sussex spoke at the Masters of Scale conference as an ambassador for the mental health coaching firm BetterUp on Wednesday. While there is no video of the event, some attendees tweeted the substance of Prince Harry's remarks during his on-stage conversation with the firm's founder, Alexi Robichaux.

During the chat, Prince William's brother seemingly hinted that he had never heard the word "therapy" while in the institution, Daily Beast reported.

"Prince Harry says growing up in the royal family & then spending 10 years in the military, he never heard the words 'therapy' or 'coaching,'" Doron Weber, VP and program director of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, tweeted from the event, adding, "Then the blinkers came off and his life changed."

However, Prince Harry had said something else in the past. He previously told his biographer, Angela Levin, the author of "Harry: A Biography of a Prince," that it was his brother Prince William who advised him to go into therapy.

Levin, who claimed to have had "interviewed him in length in 2017," reacted after Prince Harry told Dax Shepard that it was his wife, Meghan Markle, who pushed him to go into therapy.

"He said, 'No, it was William, he was the one who saved me," Levin explained to "Good Morning Britain," Mirror reported. "Either he told me something that was not true or he's saying something not true now."

Vanity Fair royal editor Katie Nicholl also echoed the same sentiment. The author of the new book "The New Royals" also recounted Prince Harry crediting his brother, the Prince of Wales, for his therapy amid his mental health struggles.

"What I would like to hear Harry say is that the first person to suggest that he go into therapy was his brother," Nicholl said on True Royalty TV's "Royal Beat," Express reported.

"A lot of people are upset that Harry is conveniently erasing what he has said before and giving us this new narrative that it was his wife that got him into therapy when actually, initially it was his brother and his father that encouraged him to get it."

Meanwhile, in the same conversation, Prince Harry detailed how therapy changed his life.

"The moment I started doing therapy, it opened my eyes," he said. "I was moving through life thinking there was only one way to live. And therapy burst that bubble."

He added, "Then when I found my way to coaching, the next bubble burst, and all of a sudden I realized that now I have perspective and a great understanding of my value. I regained confidence that I never thought I had."
