Lauryn "Pumpkin" Shannon marked the end of the year by recalling the controversies she and her family faced and sharing her hopes that 2023 would be better for them.
On Saturday, the 22-year-old reality star took to Instagram to upload a video in which she is seen outdoors walking slowly toward the camera as a narrator says, "And with that, the 2022 season comes to an end. Good night."
The clip then jumped to a montage of clips featuring her family and her sister, Alana "Honey Boo Boo Thompson, 17. Some scenes showed Pumpkin and her husband, Josh Efird, 26, posing with all four of their children, Ella Grace, 5, Bentley Jameson, 1, and twins Stella Renae and Sylus Rae, 7 months.
Though the video clips showed her family smiling together on multiple occasions, Pumpkin did not forget to look back at the controversies they faced in the past year in her caption.
"Here's to all the pain, crying & happiness of 2022," she wrote before adding that 2023 "will be our year."
She also acknowledged the support of their fans, saying, "Thank you so much everyone for the continued support."
It's been a rough year for Pumpkin and her sister. The mom of four had to engage in a legal battle with their 43-year-old mom, Mama June Shannon, so she could have full custody of Alana. They also had to deal with their controversial mom as she tried to enter their lives again after abandoning them in 2019.
They also had to come to terms with Mama June's shocking revelation that she secretly tied the knot with Justin Stroud in March. Both Pumpkin and Honey Boo Boo were not invited, so they were stunned when their mom announced the news that she was married to the 34-year-old tattoo artist.
When Pumpkin and Alana went on tour to have meet and greets with their fans across the country, they stumbled upon a roadblock in September. Honey Boo Boo suddenly announced they had to stop the tour because Boston Market was allegedly ripping them off. The reality siblings then sued the restaurant chain that was providing them with venues for their meet and greets.
Despite the setbacks, the family also had good things come their way in the previous year. Pumpkin gave birth to her twins with Josh in May. Alana entered her senior year in high school, and she's excited to pursue neonatal nursing next.
