Emily Hampshire is opening up about heartbreak and how it eventually helped her develop an "amazing" relationship with herself.
The "Schitt's Creek" star, 39, revealed that she sought therapy after going through breakups and credited it for the positive changes she's made in her life.
"I think what’s kind of great about heartbreak and breakups and stuff like that is I can see now in any of those, the amount of therapy I invested in after that changed me into the person I am today," Hampshire told Us Weekly. "It was all worth it. You grow."
The "Boy Meets Girl" star was previously married to soccer player Matthew Smith. After their divorce, Hampshire dated and was briefly engaged to musician Teddy Geiger, but they went their separate ways in 2019.
Hampshire suggested she's not looking to jump into another relationship at the moment as she's content with the single life.
"I’ve really gotten into this amazing relationship with myself. I think I might never want to be in a relationship again," she told the outlet. "I’m so happy just being. Why would I ever want to be heartbroken?"
Hampshire also shared a "traumatic" dating experience that happened after her divorce. According to the actress, her date told her she looked nice after they met at a restaurant, and this made her cry.
"Before that I’d never been on a date before. I always just suddenly landed in a 10-year relationship. I was just always suddenly in one," the actress recalled, admitting that she was "probably not ready to put [herself] out there" at the time.
"When he hugged me … I basically left like an imprint of the joker face on his white shirt," she added. "I don’t know if it’s clear to you, but the worst part of this worst date is me."
But though they did not work out, Hampshire said she remains good friends with her date to this day.
Meanwhile, Hampshire is hosting Delta Faucet's "Real Life Showroom" event Wednesday. She is giving the brand a break from trade shows to host a "live showroom in a real home with a real person."
She shared a photo for the upcoming event on Instagram Tuesday. "I’m about to play my most ambitious role yet: me! The Real Life Showroom with @deltafaucet streams live tomorrow at 1pm EDT 6/16. #deltapartner," Hampshire wrote in the caption.
