Taylor Swift Surprises 96-Year-Old Fan, Gets Called A ‘Christmas Miracle’
Taylor Swift is a real sweetheart. The “Wildest Dreams” singer decided to brighten up the Christmas of her 96-year-old fan, Cyrus Porter, by showing up at his home in New Madrid, Missouri.
Porter, a World War ll veteran, was so touched by the surprise that his family even called Swift a “Christmas miracle.”
Swift sang “Shake It Off” for Porter and his family and even mingled with around 60 of his relatives for over an hour.
“My Popo was ecstatic! He was grinning from ear to ear and even had tears in his eyes,” family member Caroline Fowler shared with E! News. “The first thing he said to her was ‘How did you get here?' He loved every moment. He told her how he was proud of his family, his country and Taylor Swift!”
Her surprise really came at the right time, since Porter recently lost one of his daughters and was saddened to spend this Christmas without her.
Swift’s surprise visit really brightened up his holiday. “It was the best day ever and our family is thankful for this!” said Fowler. “It meant so much for the family to see him so happy!”
Porter earlier told KFVS News that being a WWII veteran and a Taylor Swift fan does not make sense, but that’s exactly what he is. “I've been to two [of her] concerts. Memphis and St Louis,” he shared. “Look what she does...she puts on a show no one else puts on...I just liked the way she did stuff.”
One of Swift’s latest singles is “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” which she sang together with Zayn Malik. Malik said during a guest appearance on The Elvis Duran and The Morning Show that it was a real treat working with Swift for the soundtrack to “Fifty Shades Darker.”
“We were kind of in separate places when I mentioned the idea to her. I spoke to her on the phone and she heard the song because (producer) Jack [Antonoff] had played it to her. So she really liked it and she went in the studio the next day,” he said.
