'Teen Mom's' Leah Messer 'Doing Great,' Excited For Holidays After Split From Ex-Fiancé Jaylan Mobley

Leah Messer is in a "healing process" following her split from ex-fiancé Jaylan Mobley.

The "Teen Mom" star opened up about her breakup with Mobley for the first time in an interview, telling People that she is still working through it but is "doing great."

"The beginning of my breakup, it was difficult. But there's a healing process, there's a grieving process after any breakup," the 30-year-old reality star said. "You form an attachment with someone and a connection, and you get to grieve that if that relationship doesn't align."

She added, "But I'm excited to spend the holidays with my daughters and continue to do what we do as a family."

The MTV star made her romance with Mobley Instagram official in September 2021. She announced their engagement in August. They called it quits two months later.

"While the last year has been tremendously exciting for both of us, we've realized that it's best we walk separate paths. We are so grateful for the lessons, growth, and memories we've had in this relationship," Messer and Mobley said in a joint statement to People at the time. "So many of you have watched our love story unfold, and we hope that you'll continue to watch our stories while we move forward as friends."

The former couple added that they will "forever have love and respect for each other." They also asked for privacy as they "refocus and transition out of this chapter together."

Messer said that the breakup helped her realize the importance of self-care.

"I think self-care for everyone looks completely different," she told People. "So if it's a spa day, if it's meditating, if it's hiking, really the way that I ground myself is through Earth. Whether that's taking walks or hiking, or I really love spa days too. And music — music feeds my soul. It just does."

Messer noted that she needed to look after herself because she has three daughters.

The TV personality shares 13-year-old twins Ali and Aleeah with ex-husband Corey Simms. She also shares 9-year-old daughter Adalynn with her second ex-husband Jeremy Calvert.

"I think it's so important that we take time out for ourselves, and have a good support system and your friends," Messer added. "I think it's huge."

The second part of "Teen Mom: The Next Chapter's" Season 2 reunion airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST on MTV.
