Jennifer Lopez and former fiancé Ben Affleck may have reunited after splitting with their respective ex-partners, but unfortunately for fans hoping "Bennifer" is back together, the two are just friends, according to a report.
Lopez and Affleck sparked reconciliation rumors Friday after multiple outlets reported that they have been spending time together in the past weeks. The Oscar winner was seen being picked up and dropped off at the singer's Los Angeles mansion, Page Six reported.
Despite the romance rumors, however, an unnamed insider told E! News that Lopez and Affleck's relationship is "platonic."
"They are just friends," the source said.
Recounting how Affleck and Lopez's rendezvous went down, an unnamed eyewitness told the outlet that the actor on Friday left his Mercedes at Hotel Bel-Air before being picked up and taken to her house up the street. Later that afternoon, the "On the Floor" singer's Escalade left her house and dropped Affleck off at the hotel with his backpack in tow, the source said.
"He got his Mercedes and left," the eyewitness said.
Page Six reported that Affleck has been spotted multiple times heading to Lopez's home. "Security picks him up at a nearby location and drops him off after spending a few hours at her house," an unnamed insider told the outlet, which noted that they have yet to be spotted together publicly.
Affleck and Lopez "have never not been" friends since they parted ways in 2004, another anonymous source close to the exes told Page Six.
Earlier this year, Affleck revisited his romance with Lopez as well as the media attention the "Jenny from the Block" singer received at the time.
"There's always a story of the month, and me dating Jennifer Lopez happened to be that tabloid story at the time when that business grew exponentially ... they needed something to write about and we were that thing," Affleck said.
"People were so f--king mean about her -- sexist, racist, ugly, vicious s--t was written about her in ways that if you wrote it now you would literally be fired for saying those things you said," he continued.
Affleck also praised Lopez for being "the hardest-working person I've come across in this business. She has great talent, but she has also worked very hard for her success, and I'm so happy for her that she seems, at long last, to be getting the credit she deserves."
In 2012, Affleck told The Hollywood Reporter that he still keeps in touch with his exes, including Gwyneth Paltrow, his high school sweetheart Cheyenne Rothman and Lopez. He even texted Lopez "good luck" when she got on "American Idol."
Affleck and Lopez are currently both single. Affleck and Ana de Armas parted ways in January after less than a year of dating. Meanwhile, Lopez and Alex Rodriguez announced in April that they've called off their engagement.
