A UK mother has been cleared by a jury of the charges of knowingly having sex with an underage boy. Teah Vincent, 32, told the court that she did initiate sex with the teenager at her home but she believed he was over 16.

The 14-year-old victim had previously admitted lying about his age, including when setting up a Facebook profile when he was too young to be approved, according to a report by The New York Post.

Vincent, a mother of three children, said she invited the teen and a pal to her Glousterceshire home — but insisted she thought he was 16, the legal age of consent in the UK.

She told the court that only after they were finished in the bed did the schoolboy confess his age.

The teen, while admitting to the online lie in court, insisted that he definitely did not tell Vincent that "he was 16 going on 17," before they had sex in October 2018, the court report said.

The jury, of eight men and four women, deliberated for an hour and four minutes before clearing her of the underage sex crime. The verdict brought Vincent to tears.

In her closing argument, Catherine Flint, her attorney, reminded jurors that they had to cast aside moral judgments and decide only if she broke the law or not.

"Can you be sure he told her he was 14 before they had sex or had he lied about his age? You’d be hard-pressed to find a young teenager who doesn’t wish they were a few years older,” the defense attorney said.

Just after the verdict was announced, Vincent took to social media to write, "Not Guilty." She also posted a picture of hers alongside a friend outside the court.

According to The New York Post, Vincent, in her court report, had denied forcing the teenager. "He happily responded on his own accord. I’m sure he told me he was 16 and I felt he looked much older. It didn’t occur to me that he might be underage. He definitely didn’t tell me he was only 14 before we had sex,” she said.
