“Salem” Season 3 returns in 2017. Will Mary and John be able to stop the devil? WGN America

WGN America TV series “Salem” ended Season 3, episode 6 on a shocking note. There are only five days left for Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery) and John Alden (Shane West) to stop their son, the devil (Oliver Bell), from destroying Salem. On Sunday, also known as Black Sunday, Salem will burn and Mary will become the devil’s bride.

When will the TV show return in 2017?

According to the promo of episode 7, titled “The Man Who Was Thursday,” “Salem” returns on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 at 9 p.m. EST on WGN America. These will be the final four episodes of the witch drama since the show was canceled. The Season 3 finale will also serve as the series finale. Fortunately, the cast and crew knew it was going to be the final episode, hence, they crafted a fitting end to the tale of the witches in Salem.

From the video, it is clear that Mary and John will join forces with Isaac (Iddo Goldberg), Cotton Mather (Seth Gabel) and Sebastian Marburg (Joe Doyle) in order to stop Little John from burning their town to the ground. As John puts it, “It’s Armageddon time.”

Moreover, glimpses of Gloriana (Azure Parsons), Cotton’s ex-lover, are seen in the trailer. Cotton’s wife, Anne Hale (Tamzin Merchant), used a spell to transfer Gloriana’s baby to her womb. The prostitute arrived sick carrying Cotton’s child in Salem in search of him but, unfortunately, met Anne instead. Anne gained Gloriana’s trust by feeding her, clothing her and giving her a room to stay in. The final moments of episode 6 saw Gloriana shrieking in anguish when she realized that Anne had stolen her baby.

Although it seemed like Anne successfully got the baby, a black creature haunted her before she cast the spell.

“Salem” Season 3 returns on Jan. 4 at 9 p.m. EST on WGN America.
