Why Isn’t ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ On Tonight? ABC Delays Season 14, Episode 5
There will be no sexy doctors on ABC tonight. “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 14 is not airing this Thursday. Instead, the first hour of Shondaland’s TGIT lineup has been replaced with Halloween specials.
“It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” will Thursday, Oct. 19 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC. The classic cartoon brings everyone’s favorite Peanuts characters to the small screen. Linus (Christopher Shea) hopes for a visit from the legendary Great Pumpkin, and Charlie Brown (Peter Robbins) gets invited to a Halloween party.
Charles M. Schulz’s Halloween-themed special is only half an hour. A newer special will air at 8:30 p.m. EDT, but it’s likely to have just as many fans. “Toy Story OF TERROR!,” released in 2013, was the first television special made by Disney Pixar.
All of your favorite toys — including Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack) and more — return for this spooky short. The toys head out on a roadtrip, but it takes a creepy turn when they have to take a detour at a motel. When one toy goes missing, they have to solve the mystery and find their friend.
The Halloween specials are great for a night with the kids, but don’t worry. The hot docs of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital will return next week on Thursday, Oct. 26. However, most of the episode won’t take place in the hospital. It looks like “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 14, episode 5 will focus on the Hunt siblings and their past.
“In a flashback to Iraq in 2007, the events leading up to Megan’s kidnapping are revealed. In present day, Owen and Megan hash out old wounds,” the synopsis teases.
Of course, it’s not just Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Megan (Abigail Spencer) serving in Iraq. Nathan (Martin Henderson) is over there too. We’ll finally get a glimpse of what he and Megan were like before Megan was taken, and Teddy (Kim Raver) will be there as well. Audiences will see pivotal moments from their time in Iraq, including Nathan’s first proposal and Megan’s final departure.

While the TGIT show with the most seniority is going to be off this week in favor of more family-friendly programming, make sure the kids clear out right after “Toy Story OF TERROR!” Shondaland’s programming block will resume at 9 p.m. EDT. “Scandal” Season 5, episode 3 and “How To Get Away With Murder” Season 4, episode 4 will both air at their usual times.
