A few weeks back, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they are stepping back as senior members of the royal family. According to Express, Prince Harry’s decision to leave the Firm would affect his royal grandfather greatly.

The Duke of Edinburgh gave up his naval career to support Queen Elizabeth II when she was crowned as the new Queen. Prince Philip was “every bit a military man” and also served as the Captain General of the Royal Marines for 64 years. In 2017, Prince Philip retired and Prince Harry succeeded his role.

Just like Prince Philip, Prince Harry thrived in the force and he served in the military for 10 years. However, following the Sussexes’ resignation, they will have to relinquish all their roles including Prince Harry’s military appointments which he succeeded from Prince Philip.

“As agreed in this new arrangement, they understand that they are required to step back from Royal duties, including official military appointments. They will no longer receive public funds for Royal duties,” a statement from the Buckingham Palace read.

One netizen felt that Prince Harry’s decision to step down enraged the 98-year-old royal especially that this would mean losing the military roles and patronages passed down to him.

“I have a feeling the hand of an enraged Prince Philip is in this, as well. Gone are the Military roles and patronages including the Marines which Philip personally gifted to him. I just sense that, in fact, Harry will start to look considerably less exciting to her, now,” the social media user wrote on Twitter.

Express reported that Prince Philip probably had the most outrageous reaction to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s exit. According to the publication, when it comes to scandals hitting the royal family, the Queen’s husband usually has the strongest reaction because “he doesn’t like other people bringing his wife, the Queen, into disrepute.”

Meanwhile, sources said that Queen Elizabeth II was furious and disappointed at Prince Harry and Markle. The monarch wasn’t pleased because they were not informed before the Sussexes dropped the big news to the media, so they were as surprised as the others because they only learned about it when it was reported on TV.
