Will Kate Middleton Remain Duchess of Cambridge If She Divorces Prince William?
What will hapen to Kate Middleton’s royl title if she divorces Prince William?
According to Emily Hodgkin, a journalist for Express, Middleton has been officially known as Her Royal Highness Catherine Duchess of Cambridge following her wedding to Prince William. However, many are wondering if she will remain a Duchess of Cambridge if she and her royal husband were to divorce.
Royal titles are complex and old-fashion that sometimes they cause confusion in modern situations. For instance, Princess Diana became Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales on the day she married Prince Charles. After their divorce, the Queen changed the laws about royal titles stripping her of her HRH title.
Originally, Princess Diana kept her HRH title. However, the Queen decided that women who divorce royal princes would lose their HRH title. This was what happened to Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson.
If Prince William and Middleton were to divorce, the latter would still be called Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge but no longer Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge.
Royal fans should not worry though, since the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are not splitting. The couple is plagued by marital issues following Prince William’s alleged affair with Rose Hanbury. However, there were no signs that it was true.
Prince William’s lawyers had already denied the speculations and even issued a legal warning to one magazine who published details of the rumored cheating scandal that was deemed “false and highly damaging.” However, some tabloids continue to spread the rumors.
Last week, Star published a report claiming that Middleton had moved out of the palace with her three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, after Prince William allegedly admitted he was unhappy with their marriage. Middleton and her kids reportedly moved to her mom Carole Middleton’s house.
An unnamed source claimed that Middleton was terrified that she’ll end up like Princess Diana and was hoping that her move to her parents’ home will help reignite the spark. She was also said to be hoping that it would make Prince William realize what he’s missing.
Prince William and Middleton were last seen together at Buckingham Palace’s garden party and there were no signs of any strained marriage back then. Also, the couple is expected to have a family holiday again with their three kids because it’s Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s half-term break.
