She was blown away when the man she loved proposed marriage to her and insisted that they wed as soon as possible. However, Hilary will now learn the reason Devon is so motivated to make her his wife on the Wednesday, July 25 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

After learning that she had lost their baby following the horrific car accident she was in, Hilary (Mishael Morgan) was certain that Devon (Bryton James) would change his mind about being with her on the CBS soap. She was stunned however when he then came back to her at the hospital with a ring and asked her to marry him as soon as possible. However, as the preparations quickly get underway, she will begin to question why their nuptials are being rushed.

Young and the Restless
Hilary (Mishael Morgan) realizes why Devon (Bryton James) is rushing their wedding on the July 25, 2018 episode of “The Young and the Restless.” Here, the actors are pictured in an earlier episode.  CBS

Nate (Brooks Darnell) had previously informed Devon that Hilary had suffered an extreme amount of blood loss due to the accident, and as a result, she wasn’t going to make it. So far, he has only told Lily (Christel Khalil) the news and then proposed. Now, as he continues rushing the prep and fielding questions about the rush from Neil (Kristoff St. John) and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni), he will admit to them both why things can’t wait. With that information at hand, both will quickly pitch in to try and make sure the couple’s special day is as perfect as possible, while also tackling their own grief over the news that Hilary is dying.

As Hilary watches everyone around her work so hard at making the day special though, she will begin to question the rush for herself. Finally, after settling her bridal party and getting Phyllis alone while they settle on dresses, she will demand answers from her friend. Finally, after realizing that not only have the preparations for a wedding been rushed but that everyone seems to clam up as she discusses the future, she will also remember that no one has told her when she can go home. Finally, with all of that in mind, she will learn the truth and figure out that she won’t make it. Phyllis will encourage her not to give up, but even though Hilary may promise to keep fighting for her life, there may be nothing anyone can do except make her last days as special as they hope to.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
