Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’: June Ambrose Insists Rachel Roy Is Not ‘Becky,’ Says Jay Z Cheating Rumors Might Not Be True
June Ambrose doesn’t think Rachel Roy is “Becky with the good hair.” In fact, she’s not even sure “Becky” actually exists. The TV personality and celebrity stylist, who has worked with Beyoncé and Jay Z, took to Twitter to share her thoughts on reports that the “Run This Town” rapper was unfaithful to his wife.
It’s long been rumored that Jay Z and Beyoncé were having marriage problems, stemming from a supposed affair. Beyoncé seemingly confirmed the reports during her “Lemonade” HBO special — and accompanying album — by singing about a woman who was cheated on. In the song “Sorry,” she even hinted at the other woman, calling her “Becky with the good hair.” Because of a cryptic Instagram post, and a two-year old tabloid rumor, fans accused Roy of being Jay Z’s mistress.
Ambrose, however, insists the fashion designer and Jay Z never had an affair. “No truth at all to Jay Z and Rachel rumor, ridiculous!” she tweeted. She even hinted that Beyoncé may not have been referring to her own marriage when singing about an affair. See her tweets below.
As previously reported, Roy, 42, responded to the drama Sunday by tweeting that she respects “love, marriages, families and strength.” She continued, “What shouldn’t be tolerated by anyone, no matter what, is bullying, of any kind.”
Roy’s 16-year-old daughter, Ava Dash, also tweeted about the backlash her mom was getting, writing, “im tired of the unnecessary bullying, come from a place of kindness.”
Roy’s name trended for most of the day Sunday as fans hurled insults at her for supposedly threatening Jay Z and Beyoncé’s marriage. According to Cosmopolitan, fans also hacked her Wikipedia page several times and changed her name to “Rachel Rat,” “Rachel Side H--Roy” and “Rachel ‘Becky with the good hair’ Roy.” There was also a fake death date listed that said Roy died “under a Lemonade stand.”
