'Candy' Teaser: Jessica Biel Turns Into Cold-Blooded Killer For Hulu True-Crime Drama [Watch]
Hulu dropped the first teaser for the upcoming true-crime drama, "Candy" featuring actress Jessica Biel. The show revolves around a true story based on a housewife named Candy Montgomery, who murdered her neighbor named Betty Gore (played by actress Melanie Lynskey) using an axe in 1980.
In the teaser released Thursday on YouTube, Candy is questioned about the incident on June 13, 1980, in court. "I had no angry feelings towards her if that’s what the question is," Candy tells the courtroom. "We were friends."
The five-part crime series consists of episodes titled "Friday the 13th," "The Fight," "Cover Girl," "Overkill" and "Happy Wife Happy Life." It also stars Timothy Simons, Pablo Schreiber and Raúl Esparza.
"Candy Montgomery is a 1980 housewife and mother who did everything right—good husband, two kids, nice house, even the careful planning and execution of transgressions—but when the pressure of conformity builds within her, her actions scream for just a bit of freedom," The official handle wrote. "With deadly results."
Fans took to the comments section to share their reactions.
"I love me some Jessica Biel! I love how she makes her own projects like this and The Sinner, which was awesome!" one of the fans wrote while another commented, "Jessica Biel COMPLETELY transformed for this role. She’s an incredible actress and I’m definitely excited to see this."
Many more users on YouTube praised the 40-year-old actress for her portrayal on the show.
The series is slated to release on May 9. Besides her work on "Candy," Biel is also lending her voice to the animated series, "Pete the Cat" since 2018. She also lent her voice to the TV series, "Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?" which was dropped last year.
The 40-year-old was last featured in a drama series, "Limetown," which was dropped in 2019.
Aside from crime drama, the Hulu platform also dropped the comedy-drama "Life & Beth" starring Amy Schumer on Friday. Many more projects will be coming to Hulu in March including "First Day," "Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War," "The Girl From Plainville" and "Name That Tune."
