Criminal Gang Filmed Murdering and Chopping Up 21-Year-Old Woman

In a gruesome incident, a criminal gang recorded themselves killing a 21-year-old woman, cutting up her body, and stuffing the pieces into a suitcase.

The incident, that happened in the Brazilian city of Capao da Canoa, came to light after municipal laborers operating an excavator stumbled across her severed arm during work, reported New York Post.

The shocking discovery was made on March 24 by a worker who saw an arm fell out of a suitcase while digging a ditch. Further search revealed the torso, legs and the other arm in a suitcase. They also found in it two kitchen knives and saws that were used to cut up the woman. Stones were also found stuffed inside, possibly to help the suitcase sink.

Police identified the victim as Gabriela Lima Santana through her fingerprints and tattoo. She is believed to be the victim of a gang war.

Though Santana was first reported missing on March 13, investigators stumbled across a video on March 1, which showed a woman being dismembered inside a bathroom. The footage showed a smiling person cutting up a corpse. Bags were seen lying nearby, presumably used to hold the body parts.

While it is unclear how the horror video was obtained by the police, two arrests have been made already and it includes a 23-year-old man suspected to have shot the video. The search for two other men is ongoing.

Santana's death also puts the spotlight on the safety of women in Brazil. A report that came out in 2019 had said four women were killed every day in Brazil, which has one of the world’s highest rates of femicide.

Last month, an eight-month pregnant woman was found dead after her unborn baby was cut off from her womb. In the horrific incident, 21-year-old Pamela Ferreira Andrade Martins was found lifeless inside a locked bathroom on March 17 at her home in the coastal town of Macae.

A similar incident occurred last year too when a young pregnant woman was found dead with her baby cut out of her body. She was allegedly lured by an old school friend to a fake baby shower.
